Overcomer - Don't become Lazy

Wednesday October 14

Hebrews 6:9-12
9 Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are convinced of better things in your case—the things that have to do with salvation. 10 God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. 11 We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. 12 We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

Here the author of the letter to the Hebrews urges his readers to stay diligent in following Christ to the very end.  Some people who claim to love Jesus have fallen short and stopped too soon.  Don’t let that happen to you.

Questions
What are some of the ways we serve others that are important to God?

Who is someone you admire who is a good example of being faithful and patient to the end?  What can you learn from them?

Prayer
Father in heaven I thank you for everyone who has influenced my life in a positive Christian way.  Help me to follow their example especially today.  May I learn how to keep on keeping on all the time as I follow you with my whole heart.  Amen.

Memory Verse
Hebrews 6:10 --  "God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them."

Gather some family and friends together and read this passage. Then discuss this question:  How could we be a better example to others of a diligent passionate follower of Jesus?

DFM Nation
Next Sunday Pastor Glenn Teal will teach on the topic “Purity overcomes Lust.”  This is a great Sunday to invite a friend.  Pray for an open opportunity to do just that!
